Success Stories - Case Study
National Radio Station
We were contacted by the centre manager of a national radio station when looking to move the local radio centre to larger premises. With a commitment to supporting the local community, they required a suite of computers to give the general public on-demand access to the internet, email and more.
This project was accomplished after utilising many areas of our expertise;
Custom Built PCs
The national station had a clear idea of the specification of PCs that were required for the centre. With their own head office IT team, a technical schedule was provide for us to work to. Custom built PC’s were then assembled in our local workshops to meet these needs precisely. Strict in-house testing procedures were then carried out to ensure premium reliability.
With such a large IT suite needed, it was obvious to us that a server must be utilised to manage the network. Again, working to technical schedules, we were able to custom build a high spec Intel based server to cope with all network roles.
The large organisation had strict and clear needs of installation. Every step was planned to the last detail, ensuring the centre was developed to a central nationwide specification. Our management and engineers were all technically briefed by the radio station management team to ensure the installation was as required. Constant communication was required between both parties to ensure the project was a success.
The setup of a fast broadband connection to the network was achieved by fitting business class routers to the network. Furthermore, content screening software was installed to the servers to ensure the internet in the suite was used responsibly, and that younger users were shielded against undesirable sides of the internet.
With mobile users needing to be able to use laptops and PDA’s within the centre, wireless access was going to be essential. Our installation team fitted a wireless access point above the false ceiling to extent the network wirelessly to the entire open plan foyer and reception area.
The radio station saw many benefits from utilising our services for their installation.
We were able to draw upon our large experience of network suites to guide and assist the project when required. Our installers used Windows group policy to set up sensible restrictions to the network, giving centre managers and staff full access, but giving the general public restricted rights to ensure the network was secure at all times.
Once again, we were happy to take on the role of IT project management for the client. We were constantly liaising with both the local centre manager and group management team to keep the project on track to success.
It was essential to develop a support plan for the client. A three year onsite maintenance package was tailored to their needs, which included telephone, remote control support, and onsite visits. This gave the client total piece of mind, safe in the knowledge that in the event of any problems a single call to a single company could get the problem solved, quickly.
The radio station opened the IT suite soon after moving in. They were delighted to see the suite at full capacity on a daily basis only after a few weeks of opening. The group managers commented on how easy and efficiently we conducted the entire process from quotation to sign off. Being responsible for the setup of other radio stations around the country, they commented that whilst other IT companies were constantly bothering them with problems, we simply took the project from them until completion.
After 1 year of usage, the IT suite is now constantly full to capacity, providing the local community an invaluable resource of information and tools. The project has therefore proved a true success.
